Foundation Elects Five New Board Members

Lansdale, PA, (December 21, 2004) The Foundation proudly announces the election of five new board members to our Board of Directors. Newly-elected members Michael Briggs, Terry Melton, Gary Mills, David Scholl and Terrence Tormey begin serving a three-year term in January.

Michael Briggs, is a former United Parcel Service (UPS) Operations Manager/Vice President and grandfather to a young boy affected with Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis (EHK). Briggs is retired in Gainesville, GA.

Terry Melton, Ph.D., is CEO of Mitotyping Technologies, Inc., a forensic DNA testing company located in State College, PA. Melton is personally affected with Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis (EHK).

The Honorable Gary Mills joins the board from Newport News, VA. A former attorney, Mills is a district judge serving the people of Virginia in the state courts. Mills has two children affected with lamellar ichthyosis.

David Scholl is president and CEO of Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., the world’s largest cell culture provider, located in Athens, OH. Scholl’s granddaughter was recently born with Congenital Ichthyosiform Erythroderma (CIE).

Terrence Tormey is currently the managing director at ASAP Productions, a high-quality film and video production company in New Hope, PA. Prior to ASAP Productions, Tormey was past president and COO of Nelson Professional Sales and held various executive level positions in the pharmaceutical industry. Tormey has an adult daughter affected with lamellar ichthyosis.

The Foundation’s 18-member Board of Directors is a committed group of leaders looking to make a difference for individuals and families affected by ichthyosis. Board members live and work in many different parts of the country, but the Board meets regularly on teleconference calls and face-to-face meeting retreats. According to Foundation president, Laura Phillips, “I couldn’t be more pleased to add five exceptional new members to our Board. They all have a tremendous amount of experience, energy, and insight to add to our already extraordinary board. I look forward to working with them to strengthen and expand our Foundation’s resources and services to those affected with ichthyosis or a related skin type.”
